As Audit Scotland seeks a new Business Support Manager we asked Lynn Scott, who has been in the role for the last five years, to give us a bit more insight into life at Audit Scotland.
In the five years I’ve been doing this job, no two days have ever been the same. What’s great about the job is the incredible diversity. It’s based within the Corporate Service Management team but working with all business groups in Audit Scotland. It’s definitely a great way to get to know colleagues from across the organisation and get involved in their work.
As well as supporting three Team Leaders, the wider Business Support Team constantly strives to find new and better ways of doing things. So the role of Business Support Manager is about helping the team and Audit Scotland constantly improve. Ensuring business excellence includes everything from sourcing and managing new supplier contracts, creating the right environment for everyone to flourish or re-defining processes. It’s how we will work towards becoming a world class organisation.
This role is exciting, challenging and busy but truly does give a free reign to shape how things are done here. This is no ordinary administration team! I have learnt lots about the public sector landscape and the world of audit since joining Audit Scotland. There are plenty of learning opportunities throughout your career here.
It has been an absolute privilege to work with such high calibre people in the team – they have kept me on my toes, and are fantastic, ambitious and dedicated.
